Origin and History
The regiment was raised in Perthshire on October 15 1761 by Major-general David Graeme as a two-battalions regiment by the regimentation of independent companies. The regiment was also known as the “Queen's Own Royal Regiment of Highlanders” and served as a wedding escort to Queen Charlotte.
During the Seven Years' War, the regiment was under the command of:
- from October 1761 to 1763: Major-general David Graeme
The regiment was disbanded in 1763.
Service during the War
The regiment served in Ireland and did not take part in any campaign during the Seven Years' War.
