Origin and History
The regiment was raised in Scotland on October 18 1761 as the “Royal Highland Volunteers” by Colonel McLean.
During the Seven Years' War, the regiment was under the command of:
- from October 1761 to 1763: Major Sir Allan MacLean of Torloisk (former lieutenant in the 60th Foot Royal Americans, severely wounded at Ticonderoga in 1758. He was then given one of the four New York Independent Companies until he returned to Scotland)
The regiment was disbanded in 1763.
Service during the War
The regiment did not take part to any campaign during the Seven Years' War.
