On October 12 1756, when the Saxon Army retired from its entrenched camp at Pirna and crossed the Elbe, its order of march was as follows:

1st Grenadier Brigade under Major-General von Crousaz (1,101 men)

  • Grenadier Battalion Bennigsen (2 coys Garde & 2 coys Graf Brühl)
  • Grenadier Battalion Kavannagh (2 coys Prinz Friedrich August & 2 coys Lubormirsky)
  • Grenadier Battalion Pforte (2 coys Prinz Xaver & 2 coys Gotha)
  • Ammunition carts
  • 4 x Geschwindstück
  • Pack horses

2nd Grenadier Brigade under Major-General von Dieden (1,106 men)

  • Grenadier Battalion Götze (2 coys Prinz Maximilian & 2 coys Minckwitz)
  • Grenadier Battalion Milkau (2 coys Königin & 2 coys Rochow)
  • Grenadier Battalion Pfundheller (2 coys Prinz Clemenz & 2 coys 'wing grenadiers' of the Leibgrenadiergarde)
  • Grenadierbataillon Kurprinzessin (1 bn for a total of 516 men)
  • Ammunition carts
  • 8 x Geschwindstück
