Description

In mid-April 1759, Frederick II and his main army were posted around Landeshut in Silesia and the corps of General of Infantry de la Motte-Fouqué protected the flank of the main army in Upper Silesia. Furthermore, garrisons occupied the main cities and fortresses of Silesia.

N.B.: at the opening of the campaign of 1759, each battalion counted 700 men and each squadron, 140 men.

Frederick’s Main Army

Summary: 48 bns, 83 sqns and 143 heavy artillery pieces for a total of approx. 44,500 men and 1,400 artillerymen.

Fouqué’s Corps

This corps was posted behind the Hotzenplotz between Neustadt and Oberglogau

Commander-in-Chief: General of Infantry de la Motte-Fouqué

Summary: 21 bns, 25 sqns and 24 (later 36) heavy artillery pieces for a total of approx. 18,200 men and 500 artillerymen.

N.B.: there were also small hussar detachments in each fortress.
