Description

By mid-August 1759, the main Austrian army was still in Lusatia and Silesia but several corps were also operating in Brandenburg and Saxony. Hereafter, we give the orders of battle of the corps operating in Saxony. For the order of battle of the main army and its detached corps, see our article 1759 - Austrian campaign in Upper Silesia and Lusatia – Austrian Army OOB mid-August.

Maquire’s Corps

This corps (6,106 men) was posted near Görlitz in Lusatia.

Commander: FML Count Maquire

Infantry (8 bns for a total of 4,997 men)

Cavalry (10 sqns for a total of 1,109 men)

Vehla’s Corps

This corps (3,460 men) was posted near Hoyerswerda, raiding the Prussian garrisons on the Elbe.

Grenzer Infantry (2,500 men)

Grenzer Cavalry (7 sqns for a total of 960 men)

Brentano’s Corps

This corps (3,691 men) was on the march towards Dresden to observe the place and to act jointly with the Reichsarmee.

Grenzer Infantry (3,162 men)

Grenzer Cavalry (5 sqns for a total of 529 men)
