Origin and History
The regiment was raised on January 27 1761 by Colonel Grey.
During the Seven Years' War, the regiment was under the command of:
- from January 1761 to 1763: Colonel Grey
The regiment was disbanded in 1763.
Service during the War
From March to June 1761, the regiment took part in the expedition against Belle-Isle. On June 8, the British took possession of Le Palais, the main town on the island. The regiment then garrisoned the island. In October, it embarked aboard a fleet sailing for the West Indies. It arrived in Carlisle Bay, Barbados in December.
In January and February 1762, the regiment took part in the expedition against Martinique. By February 16, the whole Martinique island was in possession of the British.
