After the Prussian generals Wunsch and Rebentisch had made a junction early on October 29, they marched against the corps of Lieutenant-General Arenberg posted nearby at Pretzsch.
Arenberg occupied the heights in A with cavalry and in B with infantry and cannon. These were soon attacked in A and driven back by the Jung-Platen Dragoons and Zieten Hussars. A (Prussian) battery was immediately established in C.
The constantly cannonaded cavalry retired and was attacked by Gersdorff Hussars in D, Austrian dragoons wanted to attack in E a flank of the Gersdorff Hussars, but a few squadrons of the Württemberg Dragoons attacked in F these Austrian dragoons in flank and drove them back into the forest G.
Meanwhile, Fick's Corps in H forced Brentano's Corps in I to give way. During its retreat, Brentano's Corps was cannonaded from K.
Another (Austrian) corps, which wanted to enter the forest near the village of Gomlo, occupied the village with infantry and cavalry. This corps was also attacked in L, and forced to give way. Then all the (Austrian) corps retired towards Düben.
