Origin and History

The regiment was raised on 6 January 1702 by N., Chevalier d’Albaret.

During the War of the Spanish Succession, the regiment was commanded by

  • from 6 January 1702 to 13 August 1704: N., Chevalier d’Albaret (killed in action at the Battle of Blenheim)

After its destruction at Blenheim in 1704, the regiment was never re-established.

Service during the War

In 1702, the regiment joined the Army of the Rhine.

In 1704, the regiment joined the French army operating in Bavaria. On 13 August, it fought in the disastrous Battle of Blenheim where it was virtually annihilated and its colonel was killed.

The regiment was never re-established.
