Origin and History

The regiment was raised on 3 September 1702 by Charles-François Marquis de Boufflers-Rémiancourt.

During the War of the Spanish Succession, the regiment was commanded by:

  • from 3 September 1702: Charles-François Marquis de Boufflers-Rémiancourt
  • from 21 January 1710 to 1714: Chevalier de Choiseul

The regiment was disbanded in 1714.

Service during the War

In 1703, the regiment served with the Army of the Flanders.

In 1708, the regiment distinguished itself in the defence of Lille.

On 11 September 1709, the regiment took part in the Battle of Malplaquet.
