Origin and History
The regiment was raised on 3 September 1702 by Jean-François de Biaudos, Marquis de Castéja.
During the War of the Spanish Succession, the regiment was commanded by:
- from 3 September 1702: Jean-François de Biaudos, Marquis de Castéja
- from 16 March 1705: Charles-Louis de Biaudos, Comte de Castéja
- from 1709: N. de Saint-Léger
The regiment was disbanded on 8 January 1713.
Service during the War
In 1703, the regiment served with the Army of the Rhine. In August and September, it took part in the siege and capture of Alt-Breisach, where it remained as part of the garrison.
