Origin and History
The regiment was raised on 5 July 1702 by Charles-Félix-Hyacinthe de Galéan des Issarts, Marquis de Castelet.
During the War of the Spanish Succession, the regiment was commanded by
- from 5 July 1702 to 21 January 1714: Charles-Félix-Hyacinthe de Galéan des Issarts, Marquis de Castelet
On 21 January 1714, the regiment was incorporated in La Gervasais Infanterie.
Service during the War
In 1703, the regiment joined the Army of the Rhine. In August and September, it took part in the siege and capture of Alt-Breisach, where it remained as part of the garrison.
In 1704, the regiment took part in the defence of Landau.
From 1705 to 1713, the regiment was stationed in the Lines of the Lauter.
