Origin and History

The regiment was raised on 3 September 1702 by N. de Clermont.

During the War of the Spanish Succession, the regiment was commanded by:

  • from 3 September 1702: N. de Clermont
  • from 14 January 1705: Nicolas-Léon Phelippes de La Houssaye
  • from 8 April 1706 to 1713: Charles Marquis de Vassan

In 1713, the regiment was incorporated into Royal Infanterie.

Service during the War

In 1704, the regiment served with the Army of the Rhine.
