The regiment was raised on 5 September 1702 by N. de Coëtanfau.

During the War of the Spanish Succession, the regiment was commanded by:

  • from 5 September 1702: N. de Coëtanfau
  • from 18 April 1706 to 20 March 1714: Ange-Urbain de Beauvoir de Grimoard, Comte du Roure

On 20 March 1714, the regiment was incorporated into Champagne Infanterie.
