Origin and History
Three companies were raised on 7 February 1689, during the Nine Years' War (1688-97), to serve the bomb galiots on the Rhine. In 1693, these companies were placed under the command of Jean Martin. On 20 February 1694, Martin was named colonel of the unit. The corps was disbanded on 30 December 1698.
In 1701, the unit was re-established and served throughout the War of the Spanish Succession.
In 1715, the unit was disbanded.
