Introduction
At the outbreak of the War of the Spanish Succession, the Electorate of Brunswick-Lüneburg (aka Electorate of Hanover) did not yet incorporate the Principality of Brunswick-Celle and the Duchy of Saxe-Lauenburg. In 1701, contemporary sources often referred to the army of the Electorate of Brunswick-Lüneburg as the Hanoverian or Lüneburger army and to the army of the Principality of Brunswick-Celle as the Cellische army.
In this article, we regroup both armies, specifying which units originated from Hannover and which from Celle.
