Origin and History

The regiment was raised on 16 February 1694.

During the War of the Spanish Succession, the successive colonels of the regiment were:

  • from 16 February 1694: Charles Earl of Macclesfield
  • from 10 March 1702: Thomas Viscount Windsor
  • from 29 April 1707: Samuel Masham
  • from 18 April 1711 to 1713: Thomas Viscount Windsor

The regiment was disbanded in 1713.

Service during the War

In 1703, the regiment was in Ireland.

In 1710, the establishment of the regiment was augmented.
