Origin and History

The regiment was raised on 16 January 1702 by Philippe-Claude, Marquis de Montboissier-Beaufort.

During the War of the Spanish Succession, the regiment was commanded by

  • from 16 January 1702: Philippe-Claude, Marquis de Montboissier-Beaufort
  • from 18 April 1710 to 13 December 1713: N. de Longuerue.

The regiment was disbanded on 13 December 1713.

Service during the War

In 1702, the regiment joined the Army of the Rhine.

In February and March 1703, the regiment took part in the Siege of Kehl. It was latedinvolved in the attack against the Stollhofen Lines and the combat of Hornberg. On 31 July, it was at the Combat of Munderkingen. On 20 September, it fought in the Battle of Höchstädt. It later participated in the capture of Kempten and Augsburg.

In 1704, the regiment fought in the disastrous Battle of Blenheim.

From 1705 to 1713, the regiment served on the Rhine.
