Origin and History

The regiment was raised on 10 December 1702 by François de Lasseran-Massencôme, Marquis de Montluc.

During the War of the Spanish Succession, the regiment was commanded by:

  • from 10 December 1702: François de Lasseran-Massencôme, Marquis de Montluc
  • from 20 February 1707 to 31 December 1713: Pierre La Rivière-Castéras

On 31 December 1713, the regiment was incorporated into Royal Infanterie.

Service during the War

From 1703 to 1706, the regiment served with the Army of Italy.

In 1707, the regiment was transferred to Flanders.
