Origin and History

The regiment was raised on 3 September 1702 by Gabriel de Chouly de Permangle.

During the War of the Spanish Succession, the regiment was commanded by:

  • from 3 September 1702: Gabriel de Chouly de Permangle
  • from 12 November 1708 to 1714: N. de Maulmont

The regiment was disbanded in 1714.

Service during the War

In 1703, the regiment served between the Moselle and the Rhine.

In 1708, the regiment was transferred to Flanders, where it distinguished itself during the defence of Lille.
