Origin and History

This regiment was raised in Ireland in 1704.

During the War of the Spanish Succession, the successive proprietors of the regiment were:

  • from 1 March 1704: Pierce, Viscount Ikerryn
  • from 14 July 1705 to 1712: Toby Caulfield

The regiment was disbanded in 1712

Service during the War

In 1706, the regiment embarked for Spain.

In 1707, the regiment having suffered severely from the effects of climate, was "broken" and its soldiers were incorporated into other regiments. The officers were sent to England to raise new levies.

In 1712, the regiment was disbanded.
