Origin and History

The regiment was raised on 14 May 1702 by Louis-Théodore d’Escorailles de Fontanges, Marquis de Roussilles.

During the War of the Spanish Succession, the regiment was commanded by

  • from 14 May 1702 to 19 November 1714: Louis-Théodore d’Escorailles de Fontanges, Marquis de Roussilles

On 20 November 1714, the regiment was incorporated in Normandie Infanterie.

Service during the War

The regiment garrisoned various places until 1707.

In 1708, the regiment was allocated to the Army of the Rhine.

In 1712, the regiment was transferred to the Army of Dauphiné.
