Description
The commander of the Swedish field army, General Jacob Albrekt Lantingshausen, and his second-in-command, Lieutenant-General Fredrik Axel von Fersen established their headquarters in Greifswald. Swedish troops took their cantonments as follows (from west to east):
- the line of defence between Damgarten and Tribsees
- Garrison of Stralsund (a detachment of 100 men) in the lightly fortified city of Damgarten
- Södermanlands Infantry (6 coys)
- Böhnens Fribataljon (8 coys)
- Norra Skånska Horse (8 coys)
- Smålands Horse (6 coys)
- Blå Husarerna (only part of the regiment)
- Hästjägare (2 sqns for a total of 200 men)
- Headquarters of Major-General Samuel Gustav Stjerneld at Tribsees
- the line of defence between Tribsees and Loitz
- Österbottens Infantry (6 coys)
- Älvsborgs Infantry (6 coys)
- Västmanlands Infantry (6 coys)
- LifRegementet till häst (10 coys)
- Blå Husarerna (only part of the regiment)
- Headquarters of Major-General Reinhold Johan von Lingen in the town of Loitz
- Närke-Värmlands Infantry (7 coys) under Captain Baron Nils Diurclow as reinforcements late in 1759
- Centre between Loitz and Gnatzkow (later renamed Karlsburg by King Gustav III after its owner Karl von Bismarck)
- I. Swedish Grenadiers and II. Swedish Grenadiers at Schultzenhof and Wieck (present-day, a part of Gützkow)
- I. German Grenadiers and II. German Grenadiers under Meijerfelt in the villages around Gützkow
- Headquarters of Major-General Count Adam Horn at Gützkow protected by artillery redoubts
- Skaraborgs Infantry (6 coys)
- Dalarnas Infantry (6 coys)
- Östgöta Infantry (6 coys)
- Södra Skånska Horse (only part of the regiment)
- Hälsinge Infantry (6 coys), south of Gützkow
- Blå Husarerna (only part of the regiment) in flanking positions around the infantry
- the Reserve in second line to the north of Horn's Corps
- Headquarters of Major-General Vilhelm Carpelan at Griepenow Castle, just west of Levenhagen
- Artillery in the area west of the town of Grimmen near the source of the river Trebel
- Närke-Värmlands Infantry (7 coys) transferred to Lingen's corps late in 1759
- Västerbottens Infantry (6 coys)
- Kungl Livgardet (10 coys) just south of Greifswald in Weitenhagen, Hehnshagen and Potthagen Krug
- Södra Skånska Horse (only part of the regiment) spread out fan like south of the headquarters in Griefswald
- villages northeast of Ziethen and Wrangelsburg
- Headquarters of Major-General Pehr Kalling in Gnatzkow
- Åboläns Infantry (6 coys) near the Swedish-Pomeranian border
- Upplands Infantry (6 coys) near the Swedish-Pomeranian border
- Blå Husarerna (only part of the regiment) and Husarskyttekår Company protecting the flanks in the villages of Relzow, Libnow and Salchow
- Östgöta Infantry (6 coys) in second line
- Västgöta-Dals Infantry (4 coys) in second line
The Jönköpings Infantry (6 coys) under Colonel Karl Fredrik Pechlin encamped on the Island of Usedom, with 40 men in advanced positions in the town of Wohlgast.
The Swedish Artillery had built redoubts in various locations, especially at important river crossings.
